Steve Hannah: This week

I enjoy all kinds of music but I definitely have 2 favourites that eclipse all of the others:

Richard Marx, IMHO, is one of the best ballad writers of all-time. He has a way of grabbing you with his lyrics and melodies.

He is best know for his works in the late 80’s with hits like Right Here Waiting (which seems to be on almost every love songs compilation cd ever made). Most of his post 80’s albums have gone unnoticed by POP radio, but his music keeps on getting better. His most recent album, My Own Best Enemy was released in 2004 and contains a full lineup of great songs. He is currently touring with Ringo Starr’s All-star Band, but apparently will be resuming his music writing soon.

There’s something about Bon Jovi’s music that just fills me with energy. His voice has once of the greatest ranges I have ever encountered (i.e. I can sing Elvis and Ricky Martin at Karaoke, but Bon Jovi is out of reach). The guitar of Richie Samboro is also always gripping. The most recent album, Have a Nice Day was released in late 2005 and hit both the pop and country charts.
